How these 3 Reasons Can Choke Your Declaration Over Your Children

by | Aug 8, 2022 | Spiritual Growth

“You will also decide and decree a thing, and it will be established for you, And the light [of God’s favour] will shine upon your ways. – Job 22:28

Declaring God’s word is something that we hesitate about or keep for someone else to do so. We find it difficult to proclaim a decree as it is a kingly affair to issue an authoritative command. But we see in Job 22:28, that God tells Job when he decides and decree He will establish it for him.

We have got to first make up our minds, and decide what we want for our children. If you are sure you want the Kingdom’s purpose then nothing can stop you from declaring and seeing His glory come.

Other than Salvation, nothing comes to us effortlessly. To come to a place of decision making we have to prepare our hearts. We have to be confident in what we plan to do. And this is the first place that is attacked. We procrastinate in making this decision, we are doubtful, we hesitate and the list is long.

Here are three things that hinder us from taking this decision (of course, there could be many more).

Read on parents and if you are struggling in any area, know this, if you are reading this it means it is time for things to change and the change begins with you. Be confident in the fact that “All authority in heaven and on earth” that has been given to Jesus, He has given it to us… “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:18-20

I Can’t Do It!

The Lord does not delay [as though He were unable to act] and is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is [extraordinarily] patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. – 2 Peter 3:9

A declaration can never be done without authority given and when God has openly declared it upon His people who believe in His word then what is stopping us? What brings doubt and fear when God speaks in our lives?

Sin, our wrong mindset, wrong lifestyle, incorrect priorities that you have set for your life etc. This happens when we knowingly choose to walk away from God. And many times unknowingly we follow ways and thought processes that are overpowered by our circumstances, we get influenced by what the world has to say for children. Such a lifestyle that causes you to be insensitive to what God has to say for you and your children is fruitless. It is like chasing after the wind. Repent!

Our God is a God of timing, He is never too late nor too early. His word has not come to pass in your life or your family’s life not because He is delaying it or working slowly. He is patiently waiting for you to come back to Him, to come back to the heart of worship, to come to a place of complete surrender to Him. Trust in God in all your ways and you will see God’s word unfold in your life and your children’s life. As you begin to decide to change your ways and mindset you will find yourself equipped to decree over your child.

Change your “I can’t” to “I can in Jesus’ Name!”

The Magnitude Of The Declarations Is Beyond My Belief

So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me void (useless, without result), Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. – Isaiah 55:11

The magnificence of our God is beyond all words and when we compare Him to our children it seems inconspicuous. In our human imagination, His Sovereignty is beyond description and so way higher are His thoughts about our children than ours.

What hinders these plans? Disbelief!

The limitations of the human mind cause disbelief as we believe in what we see.

We have made it a way of life to view our children from a place of their limitations. We see their failures and incompetence and decide for them what the world has to offer. God is beyond all limitations. If there is nothing that can bind your child’s Creator then who are we to bind our children within our mind box?

God has plans that are way higher than what the world has to offer (Isaiah 55:9). God has plans for our children’s future that will not harm them but prosper them (Jeremiah 29:11). And when He has planned He alone will work towards implementing them for our children. All we have to do is take that first step of faith and believe what God has spoken over our children and then we will see how He opens up the way to make them happen through you.

What God has spoken He will not take back, He is working towards it so that it will succeed. No word that comes from His mouth will go waste. Therefore parents believe in His word spoken over your children.

This Isn’t Relevant To This Age

The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever. – Isaiah 40:8

“This is going to happen” “The world is coming to an end” “there is nothing that we can do about it” – with such words of hopelessness we begin our day. The intensification of the current economic scenario, political atmosphere, environmental rage etc. numbs our minds to God’s word over global situations, set aside our own. To many of us, this numbness has gone to the extent that we can’t foresee His word coming to pass in this day and age.

Our God is the beginning and the end (Revelation 21:6) and from alone things begin and end with His knowledge. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Our God is eternal, His Word is eternal and is relevant to all generations. However, the world may have progressed from when it started God’s word never changed, His love for the world never changed and it will never ever change.

What has to change is our way of thinking. God’s word is so relevant to what is happening around us that He has the solution for each issue and the solution He is in us. Yes, God desires us to take Him into every situation around us and bring forth life. When our children see us walk in this lifestyle they will automatically do what they are called to do. Magnify God in every situation slowly we will begin to see all these intensified situations diminish. Magnify God in your children’s lives and let not the evil one take away what God has in store for our children for this generation.

Yes, I believe!

This is not enough, it is time now for us to stand our ground and declare God’s word over our children. It is for us to set them out as fiery arrows to destroy the powers of darkness. Open your mouth and say it over them. Let every child hear you declare His word. Declare His word not once or twice but throughout their lives whenever you get a chance. This will help you never forget who our children are in God’s eyes and also pass on a legacy for the generations to come that will proclaim the Name of Jesus boldly.

Decide and Decree and God will establish it for you!
