How Fathers Bring Conviction in Children
by Nadine Sumithra | Jun 15, 2024 | Spiritual Growth

“My Daddy Strongest!”, this is evident in every child’s eye and every father tries his best to live up to it. A father is a strong pillar of a family and especially to children as they are growing. The father’s imperfection tends to become ‘the prefect’ in the child’s life until they begin to reason. Even after reasoning and accepting the Dad’s weaknesses we can’t disrespect them nor do we take them off that position that they have in the family. Though children spend most of their time with the mother they invariably begin to be in awe of their father.
Why so?
I believe it is because we are created like that. We are made to be knit into a father – child relationship. Therefore, our Heavenly Dad had just this ONE purpose to send His ONLY Son, Jesus to save us, and that was to restore the Father – Child relationship for us. Our Abba God cherishes and enjoys this relationship therefore, He sacrificed His best to get us back. This relationship in ingrained in us that Abba God knew we would be orphaned; we would live in a vacuum if He did not restore us.
This recent revelation in my life opened my eyes to how Abba Father looks at my dad. With all his imperfection that I see and may have highlighted through my life, Abba God looks at him as a father who tried to give his best for his family but confidently gave his children the greatest inheritance that the world cannot give – Jesus Christ.
Fathers in Christ, you are No Ordinary!
“You show that you are a letter from Christ, … written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.”
Daddies, you are no ordinary! Abba God is with you. As your children see your dependency on God, their faith gets stronger. When you pray in front of your children seeking God’s guidance, strength, provision and direction your children learn to depend not on you but on Abba God for all that they need.
Daddies, you are no ordinary! Abba God is confident of your capabilities to guide your children into the destiny ordained for them. As you walk in faith along with your children, your journey with them will be joyful and ‘this joy will be your strength to take on life’s challenges. Cherish each moment with your children and make every effort to make it memorable.
Daddies, you are no ordinary! Abba God has equipped you to redefine the father-child relationship to this generation. The strength of your relationship with your children depends upon your relationship with Abba God. As it strengthens, you will begin to easily replicate the character of Abba God to your children. Your relationship with your children will be the priceless legacy that you will be leaving behind for them.
Daddies, you are no ordinary! Abba God has chosen you to reflect His image to the children He has awarded you. Your respect and love for your children’s mother reflects God’s love, care and attention for His children.
“For all who are allowing themselves to be led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading again to fear [of God’s judgment], but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons [the Spirit producing sonship] by which we [joyfully] cry, “Abba! Father!”
Remember as you accept and live your sonship with Abba God you will reflect and replicate the purest and strongest form of father-child relationship. Your Abba God ordains the abba in you and is strengthening your every attempt to walk this journey of fatherhood.
