How Your Children Can Have A Holistic Upbringing

And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and men. – Luke 2:52
This verse reveals such a healthy environment that Jesus grew up in and parents worldwide strive to give their children a similar holistic upbringing. However, it turns out to be “… a chasing after the wind.” (Ecclesiastes 2:17) Is there a definition for a holistic upbringing for our children? Can we put down ways that will lead to a complete, perfect environment? Not really, each child is different, and every family is different no one set of rules can guide us through. However, an honest relationship with our Perfect God can definitely show us The Way.
Then God said, “Let Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) make man in Our image, according to Our likeness [not physical, but a spiritual personality and moral likeness] – Genesis 1: 26
Man was created out of a love bond between the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. This triune relationship is so interwoven and in sync that whatever comes out of this bond is beautiful and good. Such a relationship can only create a holistic environment for perfect growth. Abba Father plans to have a similar wholesome relationship on earth as it is in Heaven. Therefore in His love, He created a replica of this triune relationship in the union of marriage. Just as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit complete the Holy Trinity, God, man, and woman in Holy Matrimony seal this relationship on earth.
The things of this world and its standards may have dampened the covenant vows but the original plan still remains. God hasn’t changed His plans for any of us. It is for us not to break this covenant and work together towards the Kingdom Purpose that He joined two together.
Parents, you are called to create that holistic environment for your children to grow in the ways of the Lord.
“I have flaws, my spouse is just imperfect…” are these questions coming up? Yes, very true we have our weaknesses but when we are united with God in this relationship our weaknesses are perfected in His power (2 Corinthians 12:9b). As we remain in this covenant (God, Man & Woman) our weakness fade away in the light of His glory and in this holistic environment will our children grow.
Set Priorities Right
So where do our children fit in this triune relationship? Right in the center! Just as you and I are the center of the Holy Trinity and are treasured by our loving God, children are to be the center of their parent’s relationship with one another and God.
If children come in between, breaking any of the triune relationships it gives way to Satan to destroy God’s original plan for a family. This means giving children greater priority over others in this union will give rise to a dysfunctional family.
Children grow the best as parents nurture their relationship with one another and also grow in their relationship with God. Hurdles in this race will always be there but when we are connected with God, He will never let us go off the track and help us over every hurdle.
The key is, as parents to always be interwoven in this triune relationship and nothing in heaven nor on earth can break this cord.
Recognize the Privilege
Parents, are you not tired of looking out for the best for your children and being let down? There is nothing in this world that can assure you of a holistic environment other than God’s perfect plan for you and your children. Your triune relationship is true as the Holy Trinity. Just like every relationship, we have to work at it and when you work towards it you will together with Christ create a complete, wholesome environment for your children to grow in wisdom, stature, and favor with God and man.
Imagine your children growing up in the center of this warm triune relationship. Such an environment will empower our children to take on any challenge that comes their way. They will grow secure and protected in the center of your love and will never run to the world for it.
You as parents will be stress-free and focused on what you desire for your children. You will be confident of them and in faith release them into the world for His Kingdom Purpose. You will rest assured of a secure future in Christ for your children. Isn’t this what you are striving for?
God has equipped you, therefore take that decision to turn around your relationship to God’s original plan of marriage, acknowledge the covenant of the triune relationship and joyfully work through the relationship.
