Meghalaya Orders Statewide Freeze on Sale and Distribution of ‘STING’ Energy Drink

The Meghalaya Food Safety Administration has ordered an immediate statewide freeze on the sale, stocking and distribution of STING energy drink, citing public health concerns and labelling compliance pending laboratory test results. The precautionary order follows concerns about the product’s safety, caffeine levels, ingredients and mandatory warnings, with reports highlighting its widespread consumption among school children and adolescents.
For parents, this raises a bigger question than what children are drinking today: what are we teaching them to reach for when they feel tired, stressed or need a quick boost? Helping children understand the difference between genuine rest, nourishment and a temporary stimulant can shape healthier habits long before they become adults. Instead of simply saying “don’t drink this,” parents can teach children to listen to their bodies, value proper sleep and nutrition, and understand that sustainable energy cannot always come from a can.
The goal is not simply to tell children what to avoid, but to help them understand why their bodies deserve better choices.
