How Surrender Can Make Parenting Easy
Often in our parenting journey, we find ourselves tired and frustrated trying to get things right with our children or our parenting. It could be trying to get them to do better in school, or it could be trying to get your toddler to eat. It could even be you wanting to be a better parent and be there for your children more.
On one such day, I heard the Lord say, “Can you surrender?” and I said, “But Lord, are you not already in control? At that time God began to show me how there are areas in my parenting that are unsurrendered to God.
Many times we say, “Lord, I surrender; You take control”, and then we go and do things our own way.
What does surrender mean?
Surrender means to let go of control. If we are not surrendered to God, then it means we are in control. Surrender means to do things the way He wants it and not the way we think is right.
When we are in control, parenting can become an endless maze. We use our own minds to try to fix a situation, and then new problems arise.
That is how unsurrendered parenting is- frustrating, overwhelming and a lot of striving to bring perfection into our family.
When we surrender, we allow God to be in control so He may do what only He can do. He will give us the grace and wisdom to raise no ordinary children. Godly parenting is a surrendered parenting- surrendered to the Creator. He is trustworthy. He is a dependable God.
An invitation to partner with God in your parenting
This season, God wants to make our burdens light; allow Him to be in control by leaning on Him and yielding to His leading. He has the solution to every problem that arises at any stage of parenting.
The Bible says in Psalm 55:22(AMP), “Cast your burden on the LORD [release it] and He will sustain and uphold you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken (slip, fall, fail).”
Dear parents, He sees you trying too hard and He wants to make it easier for you. All He is asking you this season is to surrender and allow Him to lead you. And as you surrender you can be assured that He will never let you fail. That is His promise to you.
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
This season, May we learn to surrender better and trust Him to see our families through victoriously!
