How Our Arrows (Children) Become “Ineffective”

by | Jul 11, 2023 | Spiritual Growth

A couple of days ago as I was meditating on Psalm 127, I was celebrating the fact that our children are likened to arrows in our quiver.

That’s when the precious Holy Spirit spoke to me saying: Children become effective arrows only when they are found in the hands of a warrior!

That was like a wake up alarm!

You see, only the hands of a warrior carry the grace to wield arrows that contend with the enemies standing at the threshold of our lives seeking to gain access.

Parents, precious Holy Spirit wants to remind us that as parents we are called to function as ambassadors of the kingdom of Light, bringing His kingdom in our houses, work spaces and neighborhood.

If we are not actively waging war against the kingdom of darkness then surely we have settled for a civilian’s life.

And, Soldiers don’t get tied up in the affairs of civilian life, for then they cannot please the officer who enlisted them2 Timothy 2:4 NLT.

So, if our arrows (children) are not sharp and not moving in the right direction, we know it’s not the arrow’s fault. Parents, your children are your responsibility, not of the junior church’s or of our church pastor’s. You are the quiver that holds them, and you are the bow that is chosen by God to release them.

When John the Baptist was to be born, the angel of the Lord spoke to Zechariah saying, “This child will be filled with the spirit, even before he is born” (Luke 1:15)

The Bible says in Luke 1:41, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

Wow!

The key to baby John being filled with the Holy Spirit, lied in his mother having filled with the Holy Spirit first.

Parents, your children need to see you function in your calling in order for them to move into theirs!

May this post awaken many warriors to rise from their slumber! Remember you are not a civilian, but a soldier enlisted to please your officer!

With you in this,
Kim D’souza
